About

The cabin is a few minutes level walk from the village’s center and the iconic Victorian gazebo located in the middle of the lake. Kids of all ages love to fish, picnic, and enjoy the playground. In the town center, you will find two popular restaurants and the Blue Moose bar.

GMF has miles of well-maintained trails around it, including the road where Otta-Walla sits. Santa’s Workshop (a vintage amusement park) is down the road from GMF in Cascade. Fun-loving Manitou Springs is just 15 minutes down Ute Pass (Highway 24) with its arcade, its shops and art galleries. Manitou’s next door neighbor, Colorado Springs, is home to the Garden of the Gods, Seven Falls, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, the Broadmoor Hotel and the United States Air Force Academy.

Five minutes north of GMF on Highway 24 is Woodland Park. Save yourself a trip to the Springs: in Woodland you can buy groceries, gas up the car, obtain fishing licenses, buy liquor, visit a hospital or vet clinic. Check out the restaurants and shopping. The weekly Farmers/Crafters Market is held every Friday from 7am-1pm.

For the day-trippers, the historic mining towns of Cripple Creek and Victor are close by and the scenery going up the mountains is breathtaking. Cripple Creek also boasts casinos. There’s great fishing and luscious scenery at 11-Mile Canyon Reservoir (45 minutes west) and Deckers (38 minutes north of Woodland Park). Breckenridge is about a two-hour drive from Otta-Walla. On the way, you will go through Wilkerson Pass and South Park where you may spot buffalo and antelope.

Great to connect with nature

Kristi S.

Location was very peaceful and the teens had so much fun being in nature and enjoyed the stream of water behind the house. The place is located to many things to get out and see. The home is spacious, great for cooking family dinners and took me back to my 70’s childhood. Would love to return one day!

Host’s response:

I am so glad you enjoyed your stay. We hope to see you again soon!

I do the items you left at the house. Please let me know where to send them, thank you.

Perfect Creek-Side Mouth Getaway

Brooke D.

My family had a lovely stay here for Thanksgiving. The cabin was clean, quaint, cozy, well-equipped for all our needs including games and puzzles and toys for our five year-old. The cabin is located within walking distance to restaurants, post-office, playground, pond with gazebo, and hiking to beautiful Crystal Falls. One highlight of the trip is that deer are everywhere! They graze all around the neighborhood and all over the property too. They enjoy a drink along the creek adjacent to the cabin. The creek was another highlight and we’d open windows or sit along the large deck to listen to it. Overall a great experience and we highly recommend if you’re looking for a serene getaway.

Idyllic Mountain Getaway, almost

We were very pleased with the setting and the house layout: quaint little mountain town that was quiet and relaxing next to a wonderful little creek; the bedrooms on each end of the house giving three generations of family privacy but comfy common rooms to gather.

We were extremely disappointed, however, in the lack of cleanliness. Although the bathrooms seemed to have been cleaned well, the kitchen was not: coffee grounds still in the coffee pot, particles of food on the dishes and silverware, dried jam on the counter, sticky kitchen cupboards. We ended up rewashing all of the dishes. And though pet friendly, the carpets were pretty awful. The place really needs a deep clean and then more attention between stays!

Our stay would have been PERFECT if not for the challenges presented by the above.

Relaxing get away for family

Staying at this home was like visiting at a dear friend’s home. The owners clearly use this as their vacation home and leave all of the conveniences for their visitors. Beds were comfortable, and everything was perfect for a relaxing long weekend. Many hiking trailheads were within walking distance. Very convenient.

The property was nice. Kitchen a little disoraganized for me, but I like to cook. With the dog wished some of the yard had been mowed. Location seemed great, close to alot of things to experience. We enjoyed our stay.
